Valley Center, CA--- TOPSoccer Valley Center is proud to announce a collaboration with the San Diego SeaLions, the Amateur Women’s soccer team based in San Diego. On Sunday, March 5, 2017, members of the SeaLions will take part in leading a training for Valley Center TOPSoccer participants at Valley Center Middle School. In addition, there will be autograph and photo opportunities. Challenged athletes are invited to participate and members of the public are welcome to cheer them on. TOPSoccer is a nationwide program developed by United States Youth Soccer. In 2016, 8th grader and San Diego Soccer Club player Briar Van Slyke started the Valley Center chapter of TOPSoccer, a program that brings soccer to challenged athletes. The athletes participate in weekly trainings and fun soccer-based events with Buddies, youth and adults who mentor and train alongside the athletes. Most recently the group enjoyed a game and on-field experience with the San Diego Sockers.

What is TOPSoccer? US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability.
TOPSoccer provides affordable opportunities for fitness and building self-esteem. One-on-one assistance is available for those who are in need of it. TOPSoccer is an opportunity for the soccer community to come together and make a difference in the lives of all participants.
